Educational Offerings

A consistent disciplined approach to system design is crucial to realizing the full potential of the Business Architecture System. Business Architects offers a comprehensive education curriculum for organizations and individuals who wish to excel in their use of the Business Architecture System.

Courses are targeted based upon the role that the individual fills in the business, whether management or technical staff. Regardless of the course, the Business Architecture System is integral to all educational offerings. The System is used in the design of all of the courses, and is featured prominently in their presentation.

  • Management Topics

    Four management-level courses are offered. Three of them are targeted at business managers, namely Project Manager Education, Business Process Owner Education, and Enterprise Manager Education, plus one targeted at the sales force, specifically, Salesperson Education. An overview of each of these courses follows:
    • Project Manager Education
      This basic management course provides hands-on details of how to run a project utilizing the Business Architecture System. Topics include the basics of the System, an overview of systems design techniques, and the details involved in managing and monitoring projects.

    • Business Process Owner Education
      This management course introduces the business analyst or subject matter expert to the basics of using and understanding the Business Architecture System to define and model business rules. Topics include a basic understanding of the operation of the Business Architecture System and what to expect in a typical project life cycle.

    • Enterprise Manager Education
      This high-level management course presents the full spectrum of tools required to use the Business Architecture System to manage and monitor systems development projects at the enterprise level. Topics include a basic understanding of the Business Architecture System, plus tips and techniques for high-level project and enterprise management.

  • Salesperson Education

    This sales course describes the process of scoping, estimating, and preparing proposals using the Business Architecture System. Topics include a basic understanding of the System, working with Architects to define, scope, and estimate projects using the System, and issues related specifically to sales.

  • Technical Topics

    Five technical-oriented courses are offered. Three of them are targeted for the hands-on users of the Business Architecture System, namely Consulting Architect Education, Designing Architect Education, and Managing Architect Education. One is targeted specifically for implementers and coders, Technology Architect Education, and a final one, Internals Architect Education, explores the technical details of the internal operation of the connection-based architecture which underlies the Business Architecture System. An overview of each of these courses follows:
    • Consulting Architect Education
      This introductory course provides all the basic information necessary to serve on a project as a Consulting Architect under direction of a Designing Architect or Managing Architect. Topics include the basics of the Business Architecture System, a detailed review of modeling standards, and an overview of project management and system design.

    • Designing Architect Education
      This advanced course delves into the details of designing systems and subsystems using the Business Architecture System. A detailed review of how projects are structured and managed is also included in this course.
      Duration: 2 days
      Prerequisites: Consulting Architect Education or commensurate experience
    • Managing Architect Education
      This multifaceted course explores the responsibilities of a lead business architect using the Business Architecture System. Topics include managing design teams, working with the sales force, proposal preparation, and enterprise planning and design.
      Duration: 1 day
      Prerequisites: Designing Architect Education
    • Technology Architect Education
      This detailed course describes the technical details of implementing Business architecture System models in a target technology. Topics include the basics of the Business Architecture System, plus translating data models into data dictionaries and tables, and implementing process models as tasks and programs.

      Prerequisites: None
    • Internals Architect Education
      This highly-detailed course describes the internal architecture of the Business Architecture System, including the connection-based architecture of its patented Repository, the operation of its Automation Engine, and the requirements for designing legacy systems interface drivers.
